'Preventive Versus Reactive'

Nathalie Spencer voices an unusual take on what modern healthcare could consist of. Preventive treatment is not a far fetched idea of the future but something that should be taken into action not just by our healthcare system but by us,as individuals.

The concept behind this animation is a symbolic and abstract take on the idea of preventive versus reactive. Our current healthcare system and society enforces a ‘knee jerk’ reaction to illness, prescribing unnecessary medical intervention.

Using a minimal illustration technique inspired by outline icons found in UX/UI design for their simple yet effective communication of information.
All symbolic elements within the animation are universal in their meaning. The dashed stroke represents the idea of preventive measures and the completion of the stroke symbolizes the joining of the community to take preventive action. The line is the preventive path we can take to better our health as individuals and as a society, while also as a link to strengthen the community to form a social movement. The heart is the dominant and most defining symbol within the animation, illustrating good health and wellbeing while positively resulting in self love. The cross is our universal healthcare system. The circle, a symbol of the self, wholeness, life, cyclic movement and renewal.
